Warming Hut

The hut design was inspired by the patterns created by blades across the ice as well as the desire to create a color-filled, warm resting place. The hut is inscribed with a pattern, which would be etched into wood with a computer numerically controlled milling machine. Some of the vectors would be cut into the wood to allow for apertures that would be filled with airplane-grade colored acrylic.

With the sun shining through these pieces, similar to a stained-glass window, color will be cast against the walls and floor of the hut inside as well as outside onto the snow. Even on cloudy days, the bright, colorful interior will create a warm and joyful resting place.
